What we do when there's a broken leg.

{This post is dedicated to our friends Zac and Britta, and everyone at Finials!}

So Svea got her short cast yesterday and that was very exciting.
It doesn't take much to get us excited.
The past couple of weeks have shown us that Svea is a real trooper. We tried to make her feel as included and normal as possible . . . outside of the fact that she couldn't really walk for a week.

Here's a little of what we've been up to.

I brought Svea to the library and carted her around in the wagon.

She sat at the duplo table at the library for a good hour and had a great time building things. We have plenty of duplos at home, but whatever. She was happy and so was everybody else.

I think we'll go to the library again tomorrow.

We took walks in the wagon with movie stars.

We went to the playground and did some swinging. That was all Svea could do at that point, but it was enough to keep her content.

And she got her hair cut. I wrapped her leg in a garbage bag to make sure her cast would stay hair-free.

And we watched the geese in the field.

But what really saved the day - and I am thanking you from the bottom of my heart - were all those wonderful packages.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Svea (and Viggo and Elin!) were delighted with the fun crafts and gifts and doodads that arrived in the mail.

These balloons entertained the kiddos for hours. We even brought them up to the lake and they entertained cousins for hours too. That package of balloons got a ton of use and a lot of miles put on it!

There were things to color, things that lit up, things to assemble, things that grew in water, things to make and wear . . .

Even Nate was excited to see what all the commotion was about.

And there were more.

Books. Dolls. Crafts. Cards that were treasured.

Princesses to put together.

That was a serious time-buster. Svea sat at the table with glue and carefully assembled them for goodness knows how long.

We still have a pile of foam princesses sitting on the island in the kitchen. I'm not quite sure what to do with them. If you are in need of a princess, please contact us.

At times things may have been a little crazy . . .

But all those presents in the mail sure made life easier and more fun for Svea! Thank you so much!
