I think we're trying to scare Winter away.
Actually, Svea and Elin have been having fun with the story of "The Three Billy Goats Gruff" and they made troll faces today.
(I have no explanation for Viggo though . . .)
Then we made carrot-coconut bread.
I had the girls break apart the walnuts so I didn't have to cut them up.
I'm not lazy. I just needed to keep them busy.
That took awhile.
Just a little time-busting tip from me to you.
The kids were outside quite a bit this afternoon playing "for the last time" before it snowed (again). We got 9.5" last week and are looking forward to another 6" to accumulate tonight.
Elin feels bad for the birds. We saw some chubby robins this morning and she thinks they are freezing. So while Elin was on the deck she was calling for them to come and live underneath it (there are leftover bird nests from last summer there).
This is what I heard her saying: "Birdie-birdie-chickie-birdie! Birdie-birdie-chickie-birdie!"
The chickie-birdies didn't show up. But then we decided that they were shy, so the girls came inside to give the poor homeless robins a chance to come find shelter.
I put them to work right away cutting pineapple.
They did a great job, those helper girls of mine.
And here is the deck a few hours later.
I have no idea if the chickie-birdies are huddled underneath but for the sake of Elin let's just say they are.
Forecast for Sunday is 76 degrees.
Can you hear me laughing?
While the girls were outside today they found some treasures for me.
Yes, those are some crispy leftover leaves and dehydrated pine needles.
This is what I get in April in central Minnesota: bouquets of dead things.
